Terms and Conditions — BlockRot

Matthew Heester, operating as a sole trader in the United Kingdom ("we", "us", or "our"), operates the BlockRot mobile application ("App") available at https://apps.apple.com/app/id6761429056. These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the App and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By accessing or using any part of the Service, you represent that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms, including any future modifications. If you do not agree, you are not authorised to use the Service.

1. Description of the Service

BlockRot is a screen time and digital wellness app that helps users reduce mindless scrolling and build healthier habits. The App provides a task and reward system (Rot Gems), screen time blocking functionality via Apple's Screen Time framework, activity tracking, and AI-powered task verification and journalling features.

Photos submitted for task verification are processed temporarily via OpenAI's API and are not stored by us after the verification call completes. We may update, change, suspend, improve, or discontinue any aspect of the Service at any time, at our sole discretion, with or without notice.

2. Eligibility

• You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service.
• If you are under 16, you must obtain verifiable parental or guardian consent before using the Service.
• You must have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement.
• You must comply with these Terms and all applicable local, national, and international laws.
• The Service is not intended for users under 13. We will delete any data we discover belongs to a user under 13.

3. No Account Registration Required

BlockRot does not currently require you to create an account or provide an email address. Your data is stored locally on your device. You are responsible for maintaining your device security and for all activity on your device.

4. App Functionality and User Content

4.1 Screen Time and Blocking

The App uses Apple's Screen Time framework to block distracting apps. BlockRot does not track your screen time or app usage data — Apple's Screen Time framework keeps all such data private and encrypted. You select which apps to block, and BlockRot facilitates the blocking based on your Rot Gems balance.

4.2 Health and AI Disclaimer

BlockRot is a productivity and wellness tool designed to help users build healthier digital habits. The Service is not a medical or health application and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or monitoring. It is intended for general self-improvement and habit-building purposes only.

You may optionally upload photos (e.g. of meals, activities, or yourself) to verify task completion and earn Rot Gems. These photos are processed using OpenAI's API to determine whether a task has been completed. This AI-based evaluation is purely for motivational purposes and may be inaccurate. We are not liable for errors in AI analysis or any decisions made based on such analysis.
